Robert Kaiser
Robert Kaiser was born in Detroit in 1925 and studied
at the
Institute
of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He
came
to Canada in 1950. Initially working as a retail store
designer,
for Cameron McIndoo and Kinsella Design, Bob is
best
known for his furniture design. In 1956, he won a
National
Industrial Design Council (Canada) Award for
Occational
Chair for Primavera. This walnut chair was
upholstered
with beige and brown handwoven wool with black
steel
cross structure. The chair was also included in the
Canadian
exhibit at the 1957 Milan Triennale. He taught at
the
Ontario College of Art and at Ryerson Polytechnical
Institute.
