The
School of Industrial Design, Carleton University was established in
1973 to fulfill the need for Industrial Designers with a Bachelors
Degree in Industrial Design (B.I.D.). The four-year program is designed
to provide both the design skills for practice as well as a solid
academic base from which to grow into management or entrepreneurial
work. Located in the nation's capital, Ottawa, and next-door to Kanata,
the Canadian hi-tech centre, the school is ideally situated. While
many of the school's graduators' work in the local industry, large
percentages also work in Montreal, Toronto and the U.S. The School
is a part of the Faculty of Engineering and Design and is committed
to research and the development of the profession. It is currently
developing a Masters program in industrial design. For more information,
