Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced
Learning offers a Bachelor of Applied Technology Degree in Industrial
Design. This degree provides the advantages of advanced skills and
high graduate employment rates with the breadth and depth of a full
baccalaureate degree for those who chose to move into management or
pursue a Master’s degree. The program has wide industry support,
university acceptance of its curriculum for graduate studies, and
complies with guidelines from associations of Industrial Design world
wide. This degree includes a unique automotive design pathway in the
final two years, offered with support from major automobile manufacturers.
The program features a student focused learning model that values
student involvement in the learning environment, which helps students
develop networking and employability skills; design competitions
and special projects with corporate partners that ensure learning
relevance. Many design projects will be taken from concept to prototype
tooling in the Canadian Plastics Training Centre to give students
experience in every phase of production. Marketing, statistics and
management in the curriculum will foster leadership capabilities
in graduates.
Humber’s 905/GTA
location is ideal for access to major transportation links both
in southern Ontario and throughout Canada and abroad, which enhances
Humber’s Industrial Design degree program in attracting corporate
support to benefit students and graduates. A fourteen week
in-industry paid work term is part of this degree.
