The
Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) challenges each student
to find a unique voice within a vibrant and creative environment,
it prepares graduates to excel as cultural contributors in Canada
and beyond, and it champions the vital role of art and design in society.
The College offers the largest number of art and design programs in
the country, and although the design programs are very prescriptive,
there are opportunities for inter-disciplinary collaboration. Industrial
Designers create objects that support human activity, with OCAD's
focus being on the design of furniture, lighting, and consumer and
commercial products. Students are encouraged to assume leadership
roles in developing creative and responsive design solutions. Approximately
35 students graduate annually from the four-year program which consists
of a streamed Foundation year and three years of Industrial Design
