Y Design Studio is the creation
of Industrial Designer Yvonne
Potter. Her evolution as a designer
began in an unlikely way, with
a trip to Edmonton, Canada,
in 1981. There, she was completely
impressed with the Muttart Conservatory,
Citadel Theater, Edmonton Space
and Science Center and Edmonton
City Hall, realizing her love
and appreciation of architecture.
She went on to study architecture
and urban planning at home and
abroad in London.
After a few years with the
Edmonton Planning and Development
Department, Yvonne decided
to focus on smaller scale
projects, transforming materials,
and turning them into beautiful
furniture [miniature buildings!]
and architectural installations.
Fuelled by her passion for
architecture and design [especially
of Italian product and furniture
design], she dedicated herself
to another four years of school,
this time for a degree [Bachelor
of Industrial Design 1996,
School of Industrial Design,
Carleton University, Ottawa,
Canada].
Now she’s applying
her experience, knowledge
and skills into developing
modern, sensual, custom-designed
and produced furniture, environments
and objects. She loves working
with her clients, making their
ideas, wants and needs into
a reality.
