Smart Rollator with Electronic-Assisted Braking

This rollator design eliminates the safety issues associated with the current braking systems of a ‘rollator’ (wheeled walker). The design incorporates electronic-assisted braking which reduces the amount of force and time needed to perform a “stop” while also improving the efficiency and reliability of the braking force. Furthermore the design aims to eliminate human error associated with cognitive and motor skill impairments, by incorporating intuitive features that remove the possibility of forgetting to apply the parking brakes before sitting down on the rollator or couch. The design not only contributes to a safer lifestyle for end-users, but also reduces strain on the health care system for years to come.
