Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
is an ailment that is considerably under-diagnosed
and under-treated. With over 1.5 million Canadians
living with the disease, it is on the rise
and is projected to be the third leading cause
of death in the world by 2020. COPD can however,
be prevented. Regular exercise not only relieves
symptoms, such as difficulties with breathing
and fatigue for those living with the disorder,
but also delays muscular degeneration that
comes naturally with age.
