The pro-pod is a produce storage system that encourages increased consumption of fruits and vegetables. It includes sensors that detect the aromatic volatile compounds emitted by fruit as it ripens. Users can easily tell how ripe the produce is and when it is ready for consumption. When the sensor indicates the appropriate ripeness, a light will flash reminding the user and avoiding spoilage. The enclosed, transparent pod also monitors temperature and humidity to prolong shelf life.
