| ‘CHECKup+’ is a mobile preventative care system that performs key tests including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, immunization, blood and urine tests; and relays the information from remote settings to top city hospitals via computer. It is operated by Basic Health Workers appointed by Primary Health Centers in India to enhance the current primary-care system. Utilizing re-chargeable batteries and robust structure, it could be easily transported and used within remote settings, fulfilling the need of service at a person’s doorstep. Also, ‘CHECKup+’ involves a ‘virtual clinic’ concept as it acts as an intermediate between patients and specialized doctors via video conferencing.
This modular system has interchangeable parts to help in reducing the cost and improving the delivery of health care to remote areas. In addition, it provides people with preventative care and health education. ‘CHECKup+’ with future development could be tailored to any country’s health care system. |
